Let’s face it, building a truly diverse & inclusive workplace is hard work. You put in the effort, launch those awesome initiatives, but months later… crickets. The numbers on your reports just aren’t budging.  Sound familiar? That’s exactly what the HR team at a big advertising agency (let’s call them the “Creatives”) were facing. They were committed to getting more women into leadership roles, but progress seemed stalled.

Here’s the thing: good intentions aren’t enough. You need hard data to see what’s working and what’s not. But that’s where things got tricky for the Creatives. Their Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) data was all over the place –  like finding socks in a dryer after a wild laundry party. Spreadsheets, surveys, who knows what else – it was a mess!

Making matters worse, they didn’t have clear goals, or ways to measure them. Were they even tracking the right things? It felt like they were flying blindfolded on a tightrope – not exactly a recipe for success.

Enter the Data Wiz (AKA Me!)

That’s where I came in. Now, I wouldn’t call myself a magician, but I do know a thing or two about wrangling data and making it sing. The Creatives needed a D&I dashboard – a fancy way of saying a one-stop shop for all their D&I info.

Here’s what I did:
  • Tamed the Data Beasts: I gathered all that scattered data and organized it into a neat and tidy system. No more data monster hiding in the spreadsheets!
  • Defined What Success Looked Like: I worked with the HR team to figure out what they really wanted to achieve. Did they want more women in leadership? Higher engagement among minority groups? We set clear goals to track their progress.
  • Made the Data Sing! Gone were the boring spreadsheets. I transformed the data into clear, colorful charts and graphs. Now, even the busiest HR pro could easily see trends and spot areas that needed a little Talent, Learning & Culture (TLC).

The Results? We’re Talking Game-Changer!

With their shiny new D&I dashboard, the Creatives were finally seeing results. They could track progress over time, make data-driven decisions, and even impress the big bosses with fancy reports (hey, sometimes a little visual magic goes a long way!).

Here’s the best part: they finally started seeing progress on their D&I goals. More women were climbing the leadership ladder, employee engagement soared, and the Creatives became champions for D&I across the entire company.
